Faircraft
Propelled by the advent of cell biology, Faircraft are creating a whole new class of materials – starting from real leather, without the animal.
Leather is a beautiful and timeless material, but it is also ranked the most polluting one in the fashion industry. Brands are under tremendous pressure to become more ethical and sustainable.
Faircraft have taken the best of cellular culture, material science and tissue engineering techniques, and come up with a cell-based alternative to leather production. This alternative meets the requirements the industry has been expecting for years: CO2 emissions cut by 90%, great mechanical performance, and outstanding customisation capabilities.
Founders
Haïkel Balti
CEO
Material Scientist and Mechanical Engineer by training, Haïkel has a successful track record of selling and negotiating multimillion dollar B2B co-development deals with corporates, overcoming challenges related to IP sharing. His previous experience spans across managing projects encompassing the entire B2B/B2C product launch cycle.
Cesar Valencia-Gallardo
CTO
Throughout his 10 years as an academic researcher, Cesar has developed an exceptional skills combination in biochemistry, cell biology and material science that is core to the design of their materials. Notably, he has a deep understanding of cell-substrate interface optimization, which is one of the key aspects related to the tissue engineering process.
